Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement
The Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement includes 21 forest companies, who are members of the Forest Products Association of Canada, and nine leading environmental organizations. It covers more than 76 million hectares of public forests licensed to FPAC member companies across Canada. Under the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, FPAC members commit to the highest environmental standards of forest management and conservation, while environmental organizations commit to global recognition and support for FPAC members efforts.
Canadian Institute of Forestry
The Canadian Institute of Forestry/l'Institut forestier du Canada (CIF/IFC) is the national voice of forest practitioners. Formed in 1908, the Institute represents foresters, forest technologists and technicians, ecologists, biologists, geographers, educators, scientists and many others with a professional interest in forestry. The Institute's mission is to provide national leadership in forestry, promote competence among forestry professionals, and foster public awareness of Canadian and international forestry issues.
The Foothills Research Institute (FRI), encompassing 2.75 million hectares of western boreal, montane and sub-alpine forest, is located in west central Alberta. The FRI area includes Jasper National Park, Willmore Wilderness Park and the forest management areas of Hinton Wood Products, a division of West Fraser Mills Limited. The Foothills Research Institute develops projects in support of their 12 program themes, including for example, projects on the impacts of natural disturbances, the monitoring of grizzly bear populations and the socio-economic impacts of tourism in Alberta's national parks. In addition, Foothills is active in the areas of watershed planning, water quality and forest health.

The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) is the voice of Canada's wood, pulp, and paper producers nationally and internationally in government, trade, and environmental affairs.
Royal Rhodes University - Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology
The Centre for Livelihoods and Ecology (CLE) at Royal Roads University conducts strategic and applied research to encourage the wise use of natural resources as a way to diversify and sustain rural communities. We use interdisciplinary approaches to understand the ecological and human dimensions of a wide range of natural resource issues. We provide information, analysis and reommendations to support decision-making and action by individuals, communities and governments.
