In the Fundy Model Forest, which occupies 420,000 hectares in the Acadian
forest region of southeastern New Brunswick, the majority of land is managed
privately with an estimated 3500 woodlot owners residing in the area. The Model
Forest is located between the province’s largest cities – Fredericton, Moncton
and Saint John – where the forest is dominated by balsam fir, maple, red spruce
and yellow birch. Fundy Model Forest’s strength lies in its partnership and the
perspective that each partner brings to numerous project areas including
woodlot management, watershed planning, water quality and biodiversity.
